In a video message released on Friday, Kate Middleton revealed that she had been undergoing preventative chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer

King Charles on Friday publicly acknowledged his daughter-in-law, Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis and said that he is “so proud” of her courage for informing the public of her condition.

A statement released Friday evening by the Buckingham Palace was quoted by The Mirror UK, “His Majesty is ‘so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did’. Following their time in hospital together, HM has ‘remained in the closest contact with this beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks’. Both Their Majesties ‘will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time’.”

In an emotional video message, Princess Catherine — Kate Middleton — had announced that she had been undergoing preventative chemotherapy after her cancer diagnosis and told others fighting the disease that “you are not alone”.

Kate said it was a ‘huge shock’ for them after an incredibly tough couple of months. “I am well and getting stronger every day,” she said while giving an optimistic message.

The United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak offered love and support on behalf of the whole country. Sunak hailed her “tremendous bravery” in sharing the diagnosis statement with the world.

“I know I speak for the whole country in wishing her a full and speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her back in action when she’s ready,” Sunak’s statement read.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also wished “health and healing” for Princess Catherine after her cancer diagnosis announcement. In a brief statement, they said they hoped Kate and her family were able to heal “privately in peace”.

Earlier in January, the Princess of Wales successfully underwent a major abdominal surgery, which at the time was thought to be non-cancerous. However, after the operation, cancer was found to be present. The type and stage of cancer has not been disclosed yet. Kate has been undergoing preventative chemotherapy since February.

Kensington Palace had said that it is confident the princess will make a full recovery.
