What can safely be dubbed as a COVID-adherence protest, Kieron Pollard set a unique example of ‘social distancing’ in cricket when he decided to stand far away from the umpire at the non-striker’s end . It was a symbol of opposition to a decision that affected his side in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League. The incident happened on Tuesday when Trinbago Knight Riders led by Kieron Pollard took on St Lucia Kings.

Wahab Riaz had the ball in his hand in the 19th over of the innings and bowled a wide which was out of reach for batsman Tim Seifert on strike. However, the umpire did not signal a wide and Pollard did not like it very much. While Seifert again stood guard, Pollard walked as far away from the umpire as possible to register his protest.

However, the pairing of Kieron Pollard and Tim Seifert had a real impact on the match and their hitting in the slog overs took Trinbago Knight Riders to 158 for 7. It was an above par score on a slow pitch. True to its nature, the pitch aided slow deliveries in the second half and Knight Riders bowlers restricted St Lucia to 131 for 7 and won the match comfortably.
