Trained elephants are abused for riding, ceremonies, trickery and other purposes and this has been a matter of concern. They are being subjected to cruel punishments and tortures.

PETA organization has been advocating against animal cruelty for many years. PETA said it would help organize the event “in a cruelty-free manner”. PETA insisted in a statement that it was “cruel” to subject live elephants to excessively loud noises during festivals and called on all temples in the state to switch to live mechanical elephants.

“It is high time that we take stronger and more impactful steps towards stopping such abuse and giving animals a dignified and dignified life,” the organization said.

PETA India, based in Mumbai, was launched in January 2000.
