Chennai: Coastal areas in the southern part of India have been raining for almost three weeks now that normalcy has become crippling. Disrupting the normal functioning of markets, people harassing people with rain water entering houses and several houses collapsing due to torrential rains have been in the headlines recently.
In this context, the district administration on Saturday issued an order suspending the Sabarimala Ayyappa temple pilgrimage due to heavy rains in Pathanamthitta, Kerala. District Collector Divya S Iyer said that due to heavy rains, the water level in the Pamba river has risen, while the gate of the dam (where a red alert has been issued) will be opened later.
