Kerala HC order a renewed impetus to SilverLine: A Vijayaraghavan | Thiruvananthapuram News – Times of India

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM/KOCHI: After the high court set aside a single bench’s order staying the survey of lands in connection with the social impact assessment for the state government’s ambitious semi high-speed rail project on Monday, LDF convener A Vijayaraghavan stated that the order was a welcome move.
The court order will give a renewed impetus to the Silver Line project that tries to establish a high-speed rail service in Kerala. This project offers a very good compensation, rehabilitation proposal for land acquisition too. Unnecessary litigation would only help to slow down this dream project that would redefine the future of transportation service in Keralasaid the senior CPM leader on Monday evening.
Meanwhile, minister for industries P Rajeeve said that the court verdict on SilverLine will help expedite the project. Addressing the media in Kochi on Monday, Rajeeve said that the court verdict has vindicated the state government’s stand on the SilverLine project.
He said that the objections raised against the prestigious project may lead to delays. But, the court verdict will help the state government in implementing the project without much delay. To a query, he said that the court verdict has proven that the detailed project report (DPR) need not be published at this stage. But, it was considering the confusion created by those with vested interests regarding the DPR that the state government decided to upload it, he said.
‘Kannur incidents shouldn’t have happened’
Asked about the reports that two shops were closed following disputes with trade unions in Mathamangalam in Kannur, Rajeeve said that such incidents shouldn’t occur. At the state-level, leaders of all trade unions are extending support to government initiatives to usher in more investment and new industries. Rajeev said he will look into the issue with the labor minister.
Rajeeve said that isolated incidents are blown out of proportion to create an image that the ambience in Kerala doesn’t support industries.
