Karnataka: Woman dies of poisoning, sister suspects murder | Mangaluru News – Times of India

UDUPI: A 29-year-old woman died on Wednesday, after she allegedly consumed poison. The deceased is Vidya. In a complaint lodged with the police, her sister said Vidya married Yathin Raj in 2017. He had no proper job and his family would allegedly torture Vidya. She was allegedly forced to take loans from various banks, societies and organisations.
Vidya’s sister accused her brother-in-law of harassing Vidya. She said her sister was forced to get money from her father. “Two months ago, they started staying separately. When there was no one at home, they visited his house at Mulugudde on September 1. At 8 pm, her husband went to a neighbour and said that they had consumed poison. They were rushed to hospital, and Vidya breathed her last on Wednesday,” she said.
The family suspects her husband may have consumed only a small quantity of poison so that nobody doubts him and if she dies, he may not have to repay the loans. A case has been registered at the Padubidri police station under IPC sections 498 (a) (husband or relative of husband of a woman, subjecting her to cruelty) and 302 (punishment for murder).
