Prime Minister Narendra Modi Addressing a rally in Ballari in poll-bound Karnataka on Friday, he referred to the film ‘The Kerala Story’ and said the film has exposed how terrorism is weakening Kerala. He also said that the Congress is defending terrorism by trying to ban the film.

BJP has always been tough on terrorism. But whenever action is taken against terrorism, Congress gets stomach ache. Terrorism is anti-human and regressive. But to save its own vote bank, Congress has succumbed to terrorism. Can it protect Karnataka?” PM Modi said.

“Terrorism has now taken a new form. Apart from using weapons and bombs, they are working towards hollowing out the society from inside. The film ‘The Kerala Story’ has exposed this new face of terrorism. The film throws light on how terrorism is weakening the society of Kerala. And now, Congress is supporting those elements who are defending terrorism by trying to ban this film.”

PM Modi further alleged that the Congress is kneeling down before terrorists for vote bank politics and has entered into backdoor deals with extremist followers and supporters of militancy.

In 2018-2019 ‘The Kerala Story’, a film about Hindu women from Kerala who were converted to Islam and trafficked to ISIS and other Islamic war zones, has created a political furore.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticized the makers of the film for promoting the Sangh Parivar by raising the issue of ‘love jihad’ projecting the state as the epicenter of religious extremism. The ruling CPI(M) in Kerala also claimed that the film was “BJP sponsored” and aimed at dividing people and creating enmity among them in the state.

However, the BJP has extended support to the film, claiming that recruitment to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization from Kerala cannot be ruled out.
