Karnataka needs to consider Population Control Bill: BJP National General Secretary Ravi | India News – Times of India

Bengaluru: BJP National General Secretary and Former Karnataka Minister CT Sun On Tuesday, he created controversy by urging Karnataka to bring in a population control policy on the lines of the much talked about bill introduced in Uttar Pradesh.
Ravi said in a tweet, “It is high time Karnataka brings in a new population policy on the lines of Assam and Uttar Pradesh to control its growing population. Due to availability of limited natural resources, population explosion occurs due to the needs of every citizen. will be difficult to accomplish.

Ravi was not available to elaborate further on the issue raised by him.
However, Karnataka Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Basavaraj Bommai made a measured statement when asked whether the state government had any intention of bringing such a bill and said it needed discussion and debate.
“The issue of population control is a policy matter at the national level. This matter needs detailed discussion and debate.”
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s Office has said that CM BS Yediyurappa has not even considered such a move.
“There has been no discussion of any kind in this regard. This is the tweet of the National Secretary of the party and till date no such move has been contemplated. CMO official.
Responding to Ravi’s statement, Congress state unit president DK Shivakumar declined to comment with a hint of sarcasm.
“CT Ravi is no longer a local leader, he is a national leader. He has many national issues to deal with. Let the BJP government introduce one such step (Population Control Bill) in the assembly and then we can talk about it. I am the leader of a state,” said Shivakumar.
The UP Population Control Bill has already seen a lot of adverse remarks with its ally of BJP in Bihar– range (U) and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar suggested that this is not a practical bill and said that every state is free to initiate its own action to control the growing population in the country.
As per the policy in UP, any person having more than two children will not be eligible for a government job. It also runs incentive schemes for couples who have only one or two children, irrespective of the gender of the child.
The policy has also been considered in Assam with similar conditions.
