BENGALURU: CM Basavaraj Bommai’s strategic move of not giving ministers the charge of their home districts did not go down well with a section of his cabinet colleagues, who have expressed their unhappiness.
On Monday, Bommai had released the list of ministers in charge of the district, barring two senior ministers – R Ashok and JC Madhuswamy – who both refused to play the role if they were not given home districts to manage.
On Tuesday, some ministers openly expressed their displeasure over not being given to their home districts, even as Bommai tried to rubbish such reports saying that he did more before conducting the exercise. Talked to all of them later. “They are united and there is no dissent,” he said.

Municipal Administration Minister MTB Nagaraju said that he was disappointed at not getting the Bengaluru Rural district in-charge. “With my constituency located in Bengaluru Rural, and I want to contest the next election on BJP ticket from the same Hoskote area, it is quite disappointing that I cannot demonstrate my ability to bring development to the district. I have expressed my concerns. Has already circulated for the Chief Minister but whatever decision is taken by the high command, will be followed,” he said.
Sports and Youth Affairs and Planning and Statistics Minister KC Narayana Gowda asked former CM BS Yediyurappa to emphasize on the need to reinstate him as Mandya district minister.
Tourism Minister Anand Singh is also reportedly upset over Vijaynagar not being given in-charge, while his supporters continued their protest demanding a change. Singh also has a desire to meet senior party functionaries.
Health Minister K Sudhakar, who has been given Bengaluru Rural district instead of his home district Chikkaballapura, is reportedly upset. Sudhakar said, “Whatever is to be discussed and broadcast, it will be done in our internal party meetings. We are loyal foot soldiers of the BJP and will follow the decision of the CM and the central leadership.”
Excise Minister K Gopalaiah said it was the decision of the party high command and it had nothing to do with the performance of individual ministers. Gopalaiah, who is now in-charge of Mandya and Hassan districts, said, “We have been given an opportunity to serve and we will do it to the best of our ability.”
Bommai, however, tried to play down the rumours of discontent. The CM said, “No minister has expressed his unhappiness. They are united and there is no dissent. It is the national policy of our party to allot the district which is not the home district of the ministers.” Is.”
The only exception is B Sriramulu, who is elected from Chitradurga district, but has got his home district Ballari. He said, ‘I am happy with this decision.
