Karnataka: Daily Covid-19 cases cross 50,000 mark for second time after May 2021

The daily Covid-19 cases crossed the 50,000-mark in Karnataka on Sunday with the state registering 50,210 new infections. This is the second time after May 2021 that the daily infection figure in the state has crossed 50,000. On May 5, 2021, 50,112 cases of infection were reported in the state.

Karnataka Health Minister Dr Sudhakar K said on Sunday that more than half of the total new Covid cases – 26,299 – were reported in Bengaluru alone.

He said that the state’s COVID positivity rate is 22.77 percent, while the number of active COVID patients has increased to 3,57,796.
