IAS Anjaneya Kumar Singh. This is the name from which Azam Khan’s camp in Rampur is most feared these days. Azam Khan, who was once out on campaign in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, had asked this officer to clean his shoes. Anjaneya was then the DM of Rampur. Azam had said- “Don’t be afraid of the Collector-Fulctor, these are tankhaiye, if Allah wishes, I will get the shoes cleaned from them after the election.”
Then probably Azam would not have even thought that this collector would destroy his entire sultanate. Today, due to the pen of this collector, Rampur’s SP MP Mohammad Azam Khan is imprisoned in jail for nearly 23 months. His son Abdullah Azam lost his legislature. Wife Dr. Tanzin Fatima had to go to jail. The son is out on bail after 23 months. Azam also snatched 172 acres of government land imprisoned in the boundary wall of Jauhar University. Now Azam Khan’s camp is afraid of Anjaneya’s stick in the elections.

The commission has praised Anjaneya’s working
Azam Khan does not want Anjaneya to be the Commissioner of Moradabad in the elections. Complaints have also started from his camp. On the other hand, the Election Commission has praised the working of Anjaneya Kumar Singh. In a meeting held in Lucknow recently, the Commission praised the administrative arrangements made in Rampur for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He directed that other officers should also make similar arrangements for fair, fearless and peaceful elections.
Anjaneya Singh is an IAS of Sikkim cadre.
Anjaneya Kumar Singh is a 2005 batch IAS officer of Sikkim cadre. On 16 February 2015, he came to Uttar Pradesh on deputation during the time of the SP government. After the formation of the Yogi government in the state, Anjaneya Kumar Singh was made the DM of Rampur on 19 February 2019.
Anjaneya was the DM of Rampur for almost 2 years. After promotion, the state government made him the commissioner of Moradabad division. These days Anjaneya is the Commissioner Moradabad and Azam Khan’s district Rampur comes under this commissionerate. The central government has extended his deputation for two years. Anjaneya Kumar Singh will now remain in Uttar Pradesh till February 14, 2023.

98 cases were written against Azam, declared as land mafia
Whatever be the government, you have always spoken only of Azam Khan in Rampur. Rampur’s bureaucracy always followed Azam’s behest even when other parties were in power. For the first time in 2019, Anjaneya Kumar Singh, who was sitting on the chair of DM of Rampur, started taking action fearlessly on the complaints against Azam.
27 farmers approached the DM with a complaint that Azam Khan had forcibly occupied their lands for Jauhar University. Anjaneya ordered an FIR in all the cases. After this there was such a flurry of complaints that 98 cases were filed against Azam Khan one after the other. In the matter of grabbing government land, the DM registered Azam’s name on the anti-land mafia portal of the state government and declared him as a land mafia.
Azam Khan is currently lodged in Sitapur Jail. His son Abdullah Azam was released from jail last week.
Took back 172 acres of government land from Azam
The fear of IAS Anjaneya Kumar Singh’s name in Azam’s camp is not unreasonable. It is this officer who has shaken the bricks of the foundation of Azam’s empire. In 2005, the then state government had given permission of 12.5 acres of land to Azam Khan, president of Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Trust, for university, but in the SP government, Azam’s Jauhar University got 172 acres of government land in the boundary wall. In 2019, the DM ordered an inquiry into it. Later, this 172-acre land, which was included in the university against the rules, was registered back in the name of the state government.
Son Abdullah Azam’s legislature also went
In the 2017 elections, Abdullah Azam, son of Azam Khan, was elected as the SP MLA from Swar Tanda seat. Nawab Kazim Ali Khan, who contested from BSP in front of Abdullah, had demanded cancellation of the election by saying that Abdullah was less than 25 years of age at the time of nomination. In 2019, when this matter came in front of Anjaneya Singh, he got the investigation done.
Investigation revealed that Abdullah Azam had contested the election on a fake age certificate and he was not 25 years old at the time of nomination. The DM sent this report to the Election Commission. After this Abdullah’s election was annulled. The investigation also revealed Abdullah’s 2 PAN cards and 2 passports. DM also filed a case in this matter. In which, along with Abdullah Azam, his father Azam and mother Tanzin Fatim also had to go to jail.
Akhilesh used to come to drop by state plane
It happened many times in the SP government that CM Akhilesh Yadav came from the state plane to the Moradabad airstrip just because he had to drop Azam Khan. Akhilesh, who landed at the airstrip, used to go back from there. Azam has been an MLA for 9 times from Rampur city seat. His fame never diminished here.
This is the first time that an officer has ruthlessly used his pen against Azam Khan. This strong action has also made Anjaneya the favorite officer of the state government. By the way, it is also true that Mahendra Bahadur Singh was the DM of Rampur before Anjaneya under the BJP rule, but despite the free hand of the government, he could not muster the courage to take action.
Public had given farewell by sitting on the wagon
Due to the strict action, Anjaneya Kumar Singh is undoubtedly pricking the eyes of the Azam camp. But Anjaneya has been very popular among the public in Rampur. At the time of his transfer, the people of Rampur had given him farewell with a bandwagon by sitting on a buggy.
