Belagavi: A 13-year-old boy committed suicide by hanging himself in his house in Kasai Gali near Central Bus Stand on Tuesday. When he hanged himself from the ceiling fan, his parents were away.
The sixth grade student was away from school due to the pandemic. Even after classes started, he was reluctant to go to school. Apart from repeatedly telling his parents that he was not interested in school, he had failed some examinations conducted at the Morarji Desai School.
He went out on Tuesday morning after his parents scolded him for going to school. But when her parents also left the house, she came back and hanged herself wearing a sari. His father is a washerman.
During investigation, his parents told the police that the boy was upset due to his poor performance in the examination held in Morarji Desai School. That’s why he didn’t want to go to school. “Concerned with our boy’s education, we were asking him to go to school, but to no avail. Today we insisted that he go to classes. But he hanged himself,” he told the police.
Further investigation also revealed that the parents were threatening him that he would be shifted to a hostel if he did not study well for the exams. “We will continue the investigation to find out other reasons for the suicide,” a police officer said. A case has been registered at Bazar police station.
