The filmmaker expressed gratitude to Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan for encouraging him to be a ‘storyteller’.

Karan Johar is known for his exceptional filmmaking skills. Throughout his illustrious career spanning decades, he has crafted numerous successful films that continue to resonate with audiences today. With a focus on romance and drama, his cinematic endeavours have left a lasting impact on Bollywood. Recently, Johar took to social media to express gratitude towards industry stalwarts Shah Rukh Khan and Aditya Chopra, sharing a throwback photo as a token of appreciation for their unwavering support.

Karan Johar took to Instagram to share a monochrome photo from the sets of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. The still shows the filmmaker sitting on a bench with Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji, who appear to be having a discussion. Karan and Shah Rukh were dressed in winter attire, while Rani was seen in a lehenga with a shawl wrapped over her and her head resting on the bench. Sharing the photo, Karan wrote a heartfelt message thanking Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan for inspiring him to become a filmmaker.

“Being a bystander to such incredible talent has been my hugest learning curve…. I look back with indelible memories and gratitude. Not a single day I haven’t thanked the universe, Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan for convincing me that I could be a storyteller and attempt to direct my childhood dreams on celluloid,” he wrote.

Earlier in an interview with PTI, Karan Johar mentioned that producer Aditya Chopra and superstar Shah Rukh Khan are the “two pillars” who helped him shape his career in cinema. “It was also part of my destiny to have met Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan. Two pillars, two reasons why I sit here today. They acknowledged something about me that I didn’t see in myself. I will always be grateful to them for that. The rest was a lot of just passion… I may have been as sincere as I was. But what happens when you don’t have people who are in powerful positions like that? You can make it entirely on your own still because your belief system can be strong enough to combat all odds,” the filmmaker said.

Karan Johar has assisted and played a minor role in Aditya Chopra’s successful 1995 film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, which starred Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. Three years later, both actors played leads in Karan’s debut directorial, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.
