Kanye West has officially changed his name to ‘Ye,’ with no middle or last name

American rapper Kanye West has officially changed his name to ‘Ye’. Just you who has no middle or last name.

Born Kanye Omari West, the rapper filed for a name change in Los Angeles in August, citing “personal reasons” for the same.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michelle Williams Court has granted the 44-year-old’s name change request, which she submitted on Aug. 24, a Los Angeles Superior Court communications official told AFP on Monday. The rapper took to Instagram to share his new hairstyle after his name was officially changed:

The rapper actually announced three years ago that he was “formerly known as Kanye West.”

In 2018, the rapper, music producer and clothing entrepreneur announced on Twitter that he was “no longer formally known as Kanye West … I am Yee.” Some may refer to Yeh as an alter ego, but West explained in another tweet: “Who or what is Kanye West without an ego? Just Yeh.”

In 2018, he told radio host Big Boy that he believed “tu”, meaning “you”, is the most commonly used word in the Bible.

You may have left “West” legally, but his wife hasn’t. Kim Kardashian West is still going by her married name. The couple’s four children – North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm – all also have West as their surname.

Born in Atlanta and raised in Chicago, he gained recognition in the early 2000s as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records, producing singles for several popular artists. With the intention of pursuing a solo career as a rapper, West released his debut album, The College Dropout, in 2004.
