Kannada actor Satyajeet dies of serious illness at the age of 72, Twitter mourns

Several members of the Chandan fraternity mourned the death of Kannada actor Satyajit.

Veteran Kannada actor Satyajit, known for his roles in films including Puttananja, Siva Mechchida Kannappa, Chaitrada Premanjali and Apthamitra, passed away at a hospital in Bengaluru on October 10. He was 72 years old. He had won praise for playing the villainous role in most of his films.

Real name Syed Nizamuddin, Satyajit was suffering from a serious illness and was undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Boring Hospital. According to a Times of India report, the actor did not respond to treatment and passed away on Sunday morning. The last rites of the actor were to be completed today.

He is survived by wife Sofia Begum, daughter Akhtar Swaleha who is a pilot by profession and son Akash Jeet, an actor in the Kannada film industry.

Members of the Chandan fraternity condoled the demise of the veteran actor. “The passing of senior actor Satyajit has caused great pain. As a performer, he entertained his fans by acting in over 650 films including Mandyada Gandu. I pray that the family finds strength to bear the pain,” posted politician Sumalatha Ambareesh on Facebook.

Many others took to Twitter to express their grief.
