Kanjhawala case: Victim’s mother suspects ‘friend’ Nidhi’s involvement, calls it ‘well-thought-out conspiracy’

new Delhi: In the gruesome Kanjhawala incident in the national capital, the victim’s mother on Wednesday rejected the claims of the ‘friend’ fund of the deceased Anjali, saying that she could be ‘involved’ in this ‘well-planned conspiracy’. Rekha, the mother of the deceased, said she did not know Nidhi, who claimed to be Anjali’s friend on Tuesday. She was in an inebriated condition but was insisting on driving the two-wheeler. After being hit by the car, she came under the car and started dragging. I got scared and ran back home, didn’t say anything to anyone.

It is the fault of the girl who was driving under the influence of alcohol. I insisted him not to drive, I am conscious, let me drive. She didn’t believe me and believed herself,” Nidhi claimed before the media yesterday.

Refuting his claims, Anjali’s mother said that she would not believe his words as her daughter “never drank alcohol”. Speaking to ANI, Rekha questioned if Nidhi was Anjali’s friend then how did she leave the accident spot and termed the incident as a “well-planned conspiracy”.

“Nidhi is saying all the wrong things. If Nidhi was my daughter’s friend, how come she was left alone? It is a well thought out conspiracy, Nidhi may be involved in it. There should be an inquiry,” she said.

“I don’t know Nidhi, I have never seen her. Anjali never used to drink, she never came home in an inebriated condition, and we do not believe whatever Nidhi has claimed,” said Rekha. The mother has demanded punishment for the arrested accused. “The 5 men should be punished,” she said.

Meanwhile, Anjali’s maternal uncle Prem also suspects Nidhi’s involvement in the case and demands a CBI probe into the matter. “Nidhi and her family should have informed the police about the incident. Fund should be inquired. That too is included. We demand a CBI inquiry into the matter, it is not a small matter, it is a painful incident.

Earlier today, Nirbhaya’s mother Asha Devi met the family of the 20-year-old girl. She also said that she does not support Nidhi’s statement. “I request the authorities to investigate the matter and support the family financially. The family member should be given a job as soon as possible. I do not accuse anyone but I do not support what the girl (Nidhi) has said in her statement.

Special CP of Delhi Police Shalini Singh said that the investigation of the incident is going on and the police is analyzing every aspect. “Investigation into the incident is underway, we are analyzing every angle. Once that is done, we will submit the report to the Union Home Ministry.”

Meanwhile, Delhi Police has received CCTV footage in which the deceased woman, identified by police as Anjali and her friend Nidhi, were seen coming out of a hotel at around 1.30 am on January 1.

The hotel manager has revealed that the deceased woman Anjali and her friend, identified by the police as Nidhi, had a fight in the hotel after which they left the hotel on a scooty. “Both were arguing. When I asked them not to fight, they got down and started fighting, after which both of them got on the scooty.

Addressing the media, the Special CP said that another girl was present with the victim at the time of the accident. However, she left after the incident. He said that the police now have an eyewitness to the incident and his statement will be recorded. “She is cooperating with the police. His statement is being recorded under section 164. The investigation is still going on. It is still at a preliminary stage,” said the Special CP.

A 20-year-old woman named Anjali died in the early hours of New Year after her scooty was hit by a car and she was allegedly dragged under the vehicle for 13 kms on city roads.
