Despite delivering several hits over the years, Kangana Ranaut’s last theatrical release Dhaakad did terrible at the box office. After ending its run at the box office, the Rajneesh Ghai directorial failed to earn even Rs 3 crore. According to a recent report Bollywood Hungama, the makers are incurring a loss of Rs 78 crore, as the estimated budget of Kangana’s action film was Rs 85 crore. The film reportedly managed to rake in Rs 2.58 crore at the box office.
Reportedly, the makers did not sell the digital and satellite rights of the film. Now after the poor performance of Dhaakad at the box office, the filmmakers will have to face pressure by selling the digital and satellite rights of the film at junk price. It is estimated that Dhaakad’s satellite and digital revenue together will be less than Rs 5 crore.

It is believed that Kangana’s latest release faced stiff competition from Kartik Aaryan’s latest comedy horror film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Despite receiving good reviews from film critics across the country, Dhaakad could not survive the gripping part of Bhool Bhulaiyaa, which is still on. First choice among the audience.
On the work front, Kangana has donned the director’s hat for her upcoming film Emergency, based on the life of former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi. Talking about Emergency, Kangana earlier wrote, “After working on Emergency for over a year, glad to wear the director’s cap again, I finally felt that no one better than me can direct it. Fantastic. Collaborating with writer Ritesh Shah, even if it means giving up on various acting assignments, I am determined to do it, my enthusiasm is high.
