Soon after Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi held a press conference and the BJP-led central government hatched a conspiracy to implicate him in the defamation case, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted that Channi is an aam aadmi (aam aadmi) Not there. But a dishonest one.
Citing a news story, Kejriwal took another jibe at the Punjab CM and said, “Channi sahib, Modi ji raided me, a sitting CM, not my chief minister. They only got ten mufflers from my house. They didn’t get as much cash and vehicles as you got in your house. You have done a miracle in 111 days.”

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Wednesday accused the BJP-led central government of hatching a conspiracy to implicate him. Channi also hit out at the BJP for trying to take revenge on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his return and addressing a rally without attending a scheduled event during his visit to Ferozepur earlier this month.
He termed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids on his nephew’s homes and offices as a politics of vengeance on money laundering charges related to the 2018 illegal sand mining case. He claimed that his nephew was not even booked in the 30-year-old case. Referring to the ED raids on his nephew’s house on Tuesday, Channi claimed at a press conference here that a conspiracy has been hatched to implicate me in this case.
He alleged that the Federal Investigation Agency is trying to implicate him in the case. Polling in Punjab is to be held on February 20.
ED sources said on Wednesday that around Rs 10 crore in cash has been seized during raids conducted in an anti-money laundering probe against illegal sand mining operations in Punjab, including from the premises belonging to the nephew of Bhupinder Singh alias Honey. 8 crores includes Rs. Channi ED officials said the action has been initiated after taking cognizance of the Nawanshahr police’s 2018 FIR and some other police complaints against some companies and individuals involved in illegal sand mining business in the state.
Channi claimed that his nephew was tortured for naming the chief minister in the case, but ED officials could not connect him to it. “If he (nephew) is wrong then hang him, but why are we trying to implicate and implicate me,” he said.
The interrogation (by his nephew) went on for 24 hours and every effort was made to implicate me. The court remained open throughout the night that after his arrest, he (Chani) would be produced in the court. The Chief Minister claimed that when no evidence was found against me during the 24-hour interrogation, the FIR was not registered. Channi further claimed that the investigating officers also reminded his nephew about PM Modi’s visit and threatened to stop the chief minister and other Congress leaders from contesting the elections.

He urged the Election Commission of India to put an end to the alleged conspiracies of the Central Government to conduct free and fair assembly elections in Punjab. Referring to the ED raids, he said. “It’s a planted show.” “The phones were being tapped, but they could not find anything from my house or my brother’s family,” Channi said.
He said that he always prayed for the good health of the Prime Minister. “I say that even if they kill me, I am ready, if they have to file a case and put me behind bars, it does not matter. But we will not bow down,” Channi said. “Have any of you joined the BJP ahead of the Punjab elections?” he asked.
“On the other hand, many Congress leaders were being forced to join the saffron party so that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) could win elections in the state,” he alleged. This is the thinking of Modi and BJP.
“Kejriwal has an understanding with the BJP. No one is telling you anything, the election ground is open for them, but not for us. They are trying to put pressure on us.”
He further alleged that former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia had a role in the conspiracy, citing the ED raids.
He said that all of them are in this together to target one person (Chani).
“Amarinder Singh denied the allegation and his media advisor quoted him as saying, ED does not report me to @CHARNJITCHANI. Nor did I plant the confiscated money from your relatives. So stop blaming me for your family’s crimes. As I always say, law takes its course, something that @INCIndia forgot when they accused me of shielding the guilty.
