Journalist attacked by two unidentified men in Puducherry | Puducherry News – Times of India

PUDUCHERRY: Founder of a Puducherry-based Tamil daily and journalist T Udayanarayanan was assaulted by two unidentified men on Wednesday night.
Police said Udayanarayanan was returning home on his motorcycle after covering a few assignments around 7pm on Wednesday when two men on two-wheeler hit his bike from behind. He lost balance and fell off his motorcycle.
The two men grabbed him and attacked him with hands. They punched him on the face and hit him on his head. They threatened to murder him and abused him before fleeing the spot.
The journalist sustained bleeding injuries in the attack. He called his son, who hastened him to Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital and Postgraduate Institute.
Udayanarayanan lodged a complaint with the Mudaliarpet police. The police registered a case under sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 294 (b) (obscene acts and songs), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (ii) (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and launched efforts to identify the two accused.
