Joss Whedon denies allegations of abuse by Ray Fisher and Gal Gadot; Wonder Woman actress reaction

Filmmaker Joss Whedon has finally reacted to allegations of abuse by Justice League actors Ray Fisher and Gal Gadot. Speaking to the New York Times, he publicly addressed the issue and denied those allegations. Fischer, who plays Cyborg in the film, last year accused Whedon of “disrespectful and unprofessional” behavior on set. The Avengers director acquired Justice League from director Zack Snyder, who had to leave the project after the death of his daughter, Autumn.

In 2021, Aquaman actor Jason Momoa and Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot supported Fisher’s claims. The latter also said that Whedon jeopardized his career on the set of the film. Furthermore, Whedon’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor Karisma Carpenter also called him out for his toxic behavior.

Now, reacting to those allegations, Whedon told the New York Times, “We’re talking about a malevolent force.” “We’re talking about a bad actor in both senses,” he said, referring to Fisher. Whedon said this in response to the removal of most of Fisher’s scenes from the film. However, scenes were restored in Snyder’s cut of the film and the actor’s performance was praised by many.

Addressing Gadot’s allegations, she said the Israeli actress misunderstood her as English is not her first language. He said, ‘I don’t threaten people. Who did this? English is not his first language, and I am furious at my speech.”

However, the Wonder Woman actress has responded to these claims, saying that she “completely understood” what Whedon told her. She further stated that she would never work with him and would not suggest working with Whedon to any of her colleagues in the future.

Whedon also told the New York Times in the profile that taking over Justice League was his worst decision.
