Lady Gaga turns into Harley Quinn for Joker 2.
The makers of Joker 2 have released a super intriguing first look of Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn. Still with Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker locking his eyes.
It was in the month of August last year when music sensation Lady Gaga confirmed her participation in the Joker sequel. Dubbed a musical, now filmmaker Todd Phillips marked the special occasion of Valentine’s Day by unveiling the first look poster of Gaga in Joker: Folie à Deux. Showcasing their sizzling chemistry, the poster shows the Bad Romance songstress holding the male lead Joaquin Phoenix. If the intense poster is anything to go by, it looks to be a bloody reunion of the Joker and Harley Quinn.
In the image, Gaga, bleeding from her nostrils, holds Phoenix close, who also appears to be injured. “Happy Valentine’s Day,” Todd Phillips wrote on Instagram, sharing a photo of the iconic villainous couple. Check it out here:
The post has garnered over a lakh likes within a few hours on the photo-sharing application, leaving fans in full gear for the film’s release. One fan commented that the film already deserves an “Oscar for that picture”, and another wrote, “We’re all hyperventilating. Where’s my inhaler?” Another joined in, “Ahh can’t wait.” Meanwhile, a user said, “Bro just distributed an earth-shattering photo and pretended like we’re about to see it in the past.”
Prior to this, it was actress Margot Robbie, who played psychotherapist Harley Quinn, who found herself infatuated with the Joker’s affections. She then decides to embrace her villainous ways to join their clown clan. Robbie has already portrayed Quinn in several films including Birds of Prey and Suicide Squad. Notably, the upcoming sequel produced by Peter Safran and James Gunn is not part of the DC Universe. Instead, Joker: Folie à Deux reportedly has its own timeline. The film is set to hit the big screens in October 2024, almost five years after the release of the first film. In addition to Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, Catherine Keener, Zazie Beetz, and Brendan Gleeson also play pivotal roles in the film.
Previously, Gaga played the lead role of Patrizia Reggiani in the Gucci biographical crime drama House. Directed by Ridley Scott, the film, releasing in 2021, was based on the book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamor and Greed by Sarah Gay Forden. The film’s premise chronicles how Gaga’s love affair with Reggiani and Maurizio Gucci (played by Aidan Driver) leads to a power struggle over the Italian fashion brand.
