The Army on Thursday recovered a huge consignment of arms and ammunition along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, officials said. The seizures, which also included a steel core bullet, were made during a search operation in an advance village, he said.

He said the troops launched a search operation at Sarla on a specific input, from which one AK-47 rifle, nine magazines, 468 steel core and normal rounds, two pistols, four magazines, 60 rounds and two bags containing six grenades were recovered. . Pakistan-made drugs were also seized, the officials said.

The police, assisted by the army, also launched a cordon and search operation in Makhayla and Benche villages following reports of suspicious activity. Officials said the search operation was on till the last reports came in.

A large quantity of drugs, including two kilograms of heroin, worth crores of rupees were seized on Tuesday in two separate operations in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch and Rajouri districts. Police said three suspected drug peddlers were also arrested in the operation.
