Jammu: anti corruption office (ACB) said on Tuesday that they have arrested and implicated a junior engineer. Rural Development Department (RDD), doda for accepting bribes red handed during a trap.
“A complaint was received that one Asif Ahmed Chandel BDO healed, Mansoor Ahmad Gram Rozgar Sewak (GRS), Block Changa and je Arshad Amin is not releasing his final payment against which the complainant has finalized public works under MGNREGA in Block Changa, Tehsil Gandoh, District Doda,” official spokesperson ACB said here today.
“When the complainant approached the BDO with a request to release his payment, the BDO asked him to first meet the concerned GRS and JE, then he would release the payment for the said works,” he said.
“On meeting GRS Mansoor Ahmed, the complainant was asked to pay a bribe of Rs 12,000/- for each work so that his payment could be released, while JE Arshad Amin demanded Rs. 17,000/- as a bribe from the complainant to process his case.
ACB spokesperson said, “The complaint stated that the complainant had already paid Rs 10,000 to the GRS, but the GRS refused to do the work of the complainant till he was paid in full. ”
“Based on the facts stated in the complaint, which prima facie constitute an offense under Section 7 of the PC Act 1988, Section 120-B IPC, p/s Central ACB, J&K on 26 in FIR No. 06/2021 /07/2021 BDO Changa, Asif Ahmed Chandel, Mansoor Ahmed Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS), Block Changa and JE Arshad Amin against the accused persons.
He said that a trap team was formed in which accused JE Arshad Amin was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 17,000/-. He has been arrested in the case. The Gram Rozgar Sevak is absconding and all efforts are being made for his continuous investigation.
“Further investigation is on in the matter,” he said.
