J&K: 180 terrorists killed, 31 security personnel and 31 civilians lost lives in 2022, says government

Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that in 2022 (up to November), 123 terrorist incidents took place in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that 31 security forces personnel lost their lives in the line of duty while 31 civilians also lost their lives.

“180 terrorists have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir in encounters with security personnel this year (up to November 2022),” the Minister of State for Home told the Upper House.

8 journalists working in Kashmir received threats from online terrorists

Rai told the Rajya Sabha that eight journalists working in Kashmir have received online threats from terrorists and four of them have reportedly resigned from their jobs.

Rai said that a case has been registered in this regard at Shergari police station in Srinagar.

The minister said that the government has a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism and the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved significantly.

He said the government has taken several steps to protect the lives of people, including media persons, from terrorist threats and attacks, including proactive security arrangements, including a security grid comprising police, army, paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies, throughout the country.
