Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the Muslim League is a completely secular party.
During a conversation in the US, a man told Gandhi that he has been opposing the BJP, but the Congress is forging an alliance with a Muslim party in Kerala, from which he is an MP.
Rahul Gandhi’s visit to the United States is attracting controversy, with the Bharatiya Janata Party attacking the Congress party over its leader’s statements abroad. Union minister Kiren Rijiju has launched a fresh attack, taking exception to Gandhi calling the Muslim League a “secular” party.
“Is Jinnah’s Muslim League a secular party? The party responsible for the partition of India on religious lines is a secular party? Very unfortunate that some people in India still consider a person who supports Muslim League to be secular!” Rijiju tweeted.
During a conversation in America, a person asked Gandhi, ‘You talked about secularism and democracy while opposing the Hindu party BJP. But the Congress has an alliance with a Muslim party – the Muslim League – in Kerala, the state from which you are an MP.”
In response to this question, the Congress leader said, ‘Muslim League is a completely secular party. There is nothing non-secular in it.”

Rijiju’s criticism is one in a series of attacks on Gandhi in the US over his remarks. Union minister Giriraj Singh on Thursday said the whole world knows the Congress leader as a clown and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personality is beyond their understanding.
The minister said that Gandhi himself does not know what he speaks. the whole world knows them as one a joke (clown). His grandmother (Indira Gandhi) once said in Parliament that the PM of India represents the entire country on foreign soil. The minister said that on the other hand, his grandson (during his foreign visits) is attacking India.

Now, he wears the janeu (sacred thread) on the outside of his suit and remembers Brahma. The BJP leader said Modi’s personality was beyond his understanding.
Singh criticized Gandhi over his statement in Santa Clara where he had said that there are people in India who think they know more than God and PM Modi is one such example. The Congress leader had said, “If you make Modiji sit with God, he will explain to God how the universe works and God will be confused as to what I have created.”
