Jharkhand News: The weekly holiday has been changed from Sunday to Friday in about 33 government schools in Jharkhand’s Dumka district, apparently without the permission of the authorities.

Responding to this matter, DSE Dumka said that the names of all the schools are Urdu.

Dumka DSE Sanjay Kumar Das said, “We have advised the BOs of 33 schools to investigate the matter. The names of all the schools are Urdu.”

“It is being investigated how Urdu is associated with these institutions and under what conditions the weekly holiday is given on Friday in government schools. There is no direction from the department to keep the school closed on Friday. Received the report. After that we will start the investigation.” Das added.

Meanwhile, around 40 schools in Jharkhand’s Jamtara district gave a written affidavit on Wednesday (July 13) that they would return to Sunday as a weekly holiday from Friday, an official said.

District Education Officer Abhay Shankar told the media that these advanced primary schools were forced to change their weekly holidays from Sunday to Friday during the lockdown. He said that the District School Management Committee has been dissolved and a new committee would be formed soon.

Meanwhile, the Congress demanded strict action against those forcing schools to change the weekly holiday.

Senior Congress leader Ajay Kumar said in a letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren that strict action should be taken against anti-social elements behind this.

Kumar said, “According to the information, some Muslim youths forced the authorities of two-three schools to change the rule of weekly holiday from the existing Sunday to Friday, claiming that more than 70 per cent Muslim students in these schools It was,” Kumar said.

This was followed by more than 50 schools in Jamtara district.

Kumar, a former MP and AICC in-charge of several states, said the right to education is above the right to religious practice. He urged the Chief Minister to make public the action taken against the schools.
