Jamshedpur: 800 samples have been tested in the district Tatanagar station, came positive for 120 COVID-19 by noon on Monday and they were taken to the state-run MGMMCH In Jamshedpur, Jharkhand,
Sources said those with mild symptoms would be sent home and others would be shifted to the Covid wards of various hospitals.
The in-charge of the health team at the station, Tapan Kumar Mandal, said the number of cases would rise further as more trains would halt at the station later in the day. Around 2,000 passengers were tested positive at Tatanagar stations on Sunday, of which 83 were found positive. The total number of Kovid positives in the district on Sunday was 621.
According to health department sources, 1,218 recovered in a single day and went back home from various hospitals. Sources also said that there were three Covid-related deaths on Sunday. Records show that a large section of Kovid positives in Jamshedpur are people coming here from elsewhere by train or road.
The administration inspected the checkposts at various places which are the entry points of the Steel City. The non-working thermal guns were replaced at many places and the officials present were instructed to be more vigilant. The medical fraternity here has reported that the government should be equipped with more vaccines as many senior citizens will soon complete their nine-month hiatus and seek a booster dose.
Dr Anita Banerjee, former doctor of MGMMCH, said that more centers should be opened for booster doses for senior citizens. He said more vaccines are needed with a medical team to vaccinate the beneficiaries.
