Jharkhand: SIT’s action intensified in judge’s murder case, 53 hotels searched, 243 suspects interrogated

Amidst the death of Additional District Judge Uttam Anand in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanjeev Kumar on Sunday suspended the officer-in-charge of Pathardih police station, Umesh Manjhi.

According to the information, the officer-in-charge of Pathardih police station has been suspended for dereliction of duty and for not taking any prompt action after the murder of the district judge. At present, the police have taken both the arrested auto driver Lakhan Verma and his accomplice Rahul Verma on remand for five days. Apart from this, the SIT also searched 53 hotels.

The investigation in this matter is still being done by the SIT. An auto rickshaw driver had hit Judge Anand on July 28, when he was out for a morning walk.

Dhanbad SSP Sanjeev Kumar said that after the Dhanbad judge case, the district police launched an operation and arrested 17 people involved in other cases. 243 criminals are being interrogated. A sub-inspector has been suspended for allegedly circulating CCTV footage where an auto was seen hitting the judge.
