The arrested BSF constable has been identified as Kartik Behra and as retired employee Arun Kumar Singh. He was arrested along with Kumar Gurlal Ochware. Shivlal Dhawal Singh and Hirala Gumani Singh for supplying arms and ammunition to extremist organizations and criminal gangs across the country.
Describing the arrests as an achievement of the ATS, IG (Operations) Amol Homkar said on Thursday, ATS Nine people have been arrested during raids conducted in Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Punjab last month. A huge cache of arms and ammunition have been recovered. This is a huge success for the ATS team.”
He said that the raids were conducted under the direction of DGP Neeraj Sinha.
Police said Arun was arrested from Sonepur on November 17 with the help of Bihar Special Task Force and based on his information, 909 rounds of ammunition were recovered. The police have taken him on remand and are further questioning him.
During investigation, the ATS came to know about the involvement of Kartik, a native of Saraikela KharsawanWho was posted in the 116th Battalion of BSF and was posted in Ferozepur, Punjab. Police arrested Karthik and searched the premises along with BSF officers, in which 8,304 cartridges, 21 magazines, empty cartridges, detonators, magazines and other material were recovered.
Karthik confesses to supplying arms and ammunition to Arun with the help of some of his associates. Further investigation is on to ascertain the involvement of others.
The ATS also conducted raids in Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh and Buldhana district of Maharashtra, from where Gurlal, Shivlal and Hirla were arrested. A total of 14 pistols, 21 magazines, one bike and two mobile phones were recovered from them. All three are natives of Burhanpur district.
ATS SP Prashant Anand “All the accused were produced in local courts and brought to Jharkhand on transit remand,” it said.
Earlier on November 16 and 17, the ATS had arrested three accused persons, CRPF jawan Avinash Kumar, who was posted in the 182nd Battalion, and two others identified as Rishi Kumar and Pankaj Kumar Singh, during raids conducted in Jharkhand and Bihar. As happened.
The accused had supplied arms and ammunition to the CPI (Maoist) and the Aman Sao gang. A total of 450 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition were seized in the operation. ATS had also arrested one Kamendra Singh from Dhanbad in connection with the supply of arms.
