The incident took place on Wednesday at Karma Chowk in Mayurhand block, when the police was conducting a mask checking campaign. Pawan Kumar Yadav is a soldier in the Indian Army. He was going on his bike when the police stopped him at Karma Chowk for not wearing a mask. During this, a policeman allegedly took out the key from the bike, which Yadav protested. After an argument, the policemen started beating Yadav with sticks.

In the video of the incident, policemen can be seen thrashing and slapping a man with sticks. The policemen kept kicking Yadav after his fall. It can also be seen in the video that some of the policemen who thrashed Army jawan Pawan Kumar Yadav for not wearing masks were not themselves wearing masks.

According to media reports, BDO (Block Development Officer) Saket Sinha was also present there during this entire incident. But he remained a mute spectator and did not interfere even after this action of the police.
