Three trucks carrying a cargo ship fell into the Ganges river in Jharkhand’s Sahibganj district and one person is said to be missing in the incident. The incident took place in the morning at Garam Ghat in the district, about 450 km from state capital Ranchi, when a truck’s tire burst and the vessel capsized.
Sahebganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramniwas Yadav said two-three trucks carrying a cargo ship fell into the river and one person was reported missing. The official said that the missing person has been identified as Saifuddin Shaikh, a resident of Govindpur in Dhanbad district. The incident happened in the morning at Garam Ghat in Sahibganj district.
“We used local divers to trace the missing person, but the river is about four meters deep where the incident took place,” he said. A special team of drivers will be deployed on Saturday. We will also take the help of NDRF.
This was the second such incident this year. At least three people were reported missing after six trucks carrying a ship fell into the Ganges river in Sahebganj on March 24.
