Jammu & Kashmir: Army personnel neutralize two terrorists along LoC in Poonch

Two terrorists were killed in an overnight operation on Saturday in Balakote sector of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Troops noticed a suspicious movement along the LoC in Balakot sector following which some speculative firing was done by them. A massive search operation was also launched in the area following which contact with the terrorists was established.

Security forces killed 172 terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir in 2022

In the year 2022, 172 terrorists were killed in more than 90 operations in the Kashmir Valley. Among those killed were 42 foreign terrorists, most of them from Pakistan. “During the year 2022, a total of 93 successful encounters took place in Kashmir, in which 172 terrorists including 42 foreign terrorists were killed. Maximum terrorists neutralized were Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) / The Resistant Front (TRF) (108) outfits, followed by JeM (35), HM (22), Al-Badr (4) and AGUH (3) outfits were. Vijay Kumar, ADGP, Kashmir Police said.

The Kashmir Police also informed that there has been a decline in the number of youths joining terrorist organizations in the Valley. The ADGP had said in a briefing last year that according to the data, there has been a decline of about 37 per cent in recruitment in terrorist organizations.
