They were arrested and a cache of arms, 25 hand grenades, one pistol, two pistol magazines, 230 pistol rounds, 10 AK rifle magazines and 300 AK rounds were recovered.

Security forces on Monday arrested two overground workers (OGWs) of Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police said.

A police official said that acting on information about the arrival of arms consignment in Pulwama, a special team of police and army has been deployed at various places in the district.

He told that two suspects riding a two-wheeler were stopped at Naina Batpora in Litter area.

They were apprehended and a cache of arms – 25 hand grenades, one pistol, two pistol magazines, 230 rounds pistol, 10 AK rifle magazines and 300 AK rounds were recovered, the official said.

One of those arrested was identified as Shaukat Ahmad Digoo, while the other was a juvenile, he said. Kishore was Diggu’s cousin.

The officer said that during interrogation, Digoo disclosed that he was in touch with OGW Firdaus Ahmad Bhat, who is currently lodged in Central Jail Rajouri.

“The suspect (Digu) was working for Jaish-e-Mohammed outfit and this huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered was meant for onward distribution and carrying out attacks on police and security forces,” he said.
