An encounter broke out between security officials and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Awantipora in the early hours of Friday.
An encounter broke out early Friday in Pampore area of Awantipora in Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir Police said. A joint team of Police, Army and CRPF has launched a cordon and search operation in the crew. As the joint team of forces reached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists opened fire on the security forces, following which an encounter broke out. According to sources, two terrorists are feared trapped.
Kashmir Zone Police tweeted, “Encounter has begun in Khrew, Pampore area of #Awantipora. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details will be followed.”
Further details are awaited. Two days before Independence Day, a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist was killed during an encounter in Kulgam.
