England pacer James Anderson took his 1000th first-class wicket with his best bowling figures of 7 for 19 for Lancashire against Kent at Old Trafford, Manchester in a County Championship match. Anderson’s brilliant spell helped Lancashire bowl Kent out for just 74 in 26.2 overs.

Anderson has 617 Test wickets to his name, the most by an England bowler and the most by a fast bowler. Earlier this year, Anderson also became the most capped English Test player with his 162nd match.
Anderson had said, “For a bowler to play so many matches, I don’t know what the word is, but it’s a bit mind blowing to me.”
“That’s a lot of wickets and in this day and age, I don’t know if it’s possible to get so many first-class wickets now.
“With the amount of cricket that is played, it seems that the bowlers do not have that longevity and there is a load of T20 cricket and everything that is going on around the world.
“I’m still happy to be here, to be honest. It makes me feel proud. I never thought I’d reach this point in a million years. I don’t feel like I’ve played that many games. Mine The body does not feel old or tired.
“I absolutely love Test cricket, I have a huge passion for it. Growing up, I only wanted to play Test cricket for England and I am honored that I was able to do it for so long.”
