Olaf Scholz’s acceptance of the Indian point of view comes at a time when the German Chancellor is set to visit India later this month.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Sunday quoted External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s remarks on ‘European mindset’ during the Munich Security Conference and suggested a change in the so-called ‘mindset’.

Scholz also said that Jaishankar’s remarks have been included in the Munich Security Report 2023.

Participating in the 17th edition of GLOBSEC Bratislava Forum in Slovakia in June 2022, Jaishankar answered a question on India’s stand on the Russia-Ukraine war and said that Europe remains silent on many issues and it has to move forward with this mindset. Europe’s problems are world problems.

“Somewhere Europe has to get out of the mindset that Europe’s problems are the world’s problems but the world’s problems are not Europe’s problems. That you are yours, I am ours. I see that reflected,” he said. .

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference that began on Friday, Scholz echoed Jaishankar’s views and suggested a change in so-called “mindset”.

“This quote from the Indian Foreign Minister is included in this year’s Munich Security Report and it makes a point. It will not be a problem of Europe alone if the law of the strong asserts itself in international relations,” Scholz said.

He stressed the need to work with Asia, Africa and Latin America to find solutions to the challenges of poverty and hunger.

“We generally have to address the interests and concerns of these countries as a basic condition for joint action. And that’s why it was so important to me that representatives from Asia, Africa and Latin America weren’t the only ones at the negotiating table during the G7 summit last June.

Scholz’s approval of India’s approach outlined by Jaishankar assumes significance as it comes at a time when the German Chancellor is all set to visit. India From 25 February to 26 February.

“I really wanted to work with these regions to help them face growing poverty and hunger, partly as a result of Russia’s wars as well as climate change or the impact of Covid-19,” he said. .
