Jailer Worldwide Closing Box Office Collection: Thalaiva’s Film Earns Over Rs 600 Cr, Becomes Biggest Tamil Hit

Rajinikanth’s Jailer amassed a worldwide gross of Rs. 605 crore as India contributes Rs. 407 crore, while Rs. 198 crore (USD 23.80 million) came from the international market.

The film has secured the position of second highest-grossing movie in Kollywood industry, making the history. Meanwhile, the movie has done internationally so well that it has reached the top spot head of Rajinikanth’s 2.0.

As per media reports, the significant difference between 2.0, also starring Akshay Kumar, and Jailer was Hindi dubbed version. While 2.0 enjoyed a massive success from Hindi speakers, Jailer quite failed to make that impression. However in Tamil language, the film emerged as the biggest blockbuster ever.

The film raked Rs 188 crore in the home state, Tamil Nadu, trailling behind Rajinikanth’s own blockbuster, 2.0. Meanwhile in Kerala and Karnataka, Thalivar’s Jailer has become the highest-grossing Tamil Film ever.

Challenge Among Hindi Speakers

Another reason that the film failed to impress Hindi speakers was its clash with Gadar 2 and other Bollywood films listed at that time. Still, the film emerged as the top Tamil film in every continent; be it Europe, Asia or America.

Talking about his work front, Rajinikanth’s past decade have been a rough period as his movies underperformed. His last hit was Endhrian in 2010. As it is mentioned that 2.0 was a big hit and Petta was also a film that Tamil Superstar gave to his fans but that too was a long time ago.

Now Thalaiva is back, giving all-time-hit with his great performance and witty style that his fans of all age gaps love.
