Jagan’s false promises ruined poor people, says Chandrababu Naidu on three-day visit to Kuppam

TDP national president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday slammed Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for making false promises “without even building three houses” for the poor people of the state in the last three years.

Naidu recalled how Reddy had promised over 25 lakh houses in the past and is now silent on the issue. Besides, the CM increased the rates of cement, sand and steel, making it difficult for poor families to complete their tiny houses on their own, he said.

On the first day of his three-day visit to the Kuppam assembly constituency, the TDP chief addressed the local public at several places. He criticized the chief minister for not fulfilling the promises of his housing, while trying to take credit for the houses constructed by him by changing colors during the TDP rule.

Naidu cautioned that if the TDP had resorted to the same riots and threats, the YSRCP would not have survived anywhere in the state. Naidu said the police was showing extreme enthusiasm to harass the opposition and the general public to please political masters.

Naidu said that if Amaravati Capital City had been developed by now, many more industries would have come up and employment opportunities would have increased manifold in AP itself. Even the youth of Kuppam would not have been forced to go to Bangalore for jobs but nothing was done on the issue.

The TDP leader thanked the Kuppam voters for electing him as an MLA for the last seven terms and for the last 35 years. “TDP has developed facilities in Kuppam but the YSRCP regime has only brought granite and liquor mafia. While the new government in Tamil Nadu continued the Amma canteen, the Jagan government canceled the Anna canteen in Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu promised to give free registration to the poor beneficiaries of housing schemes within a month of winning the next election. “The YCP regime had no right to impose tax and financial burden on the poor sections. The government snatched Rs 2,000 crore from Abhay Hastam. The savings of DWCRA women were in danger,” he said.

Naidu said autorickshaw drivers, farmers, women, youth, SC, BC and all sections are facing huge losses since Jagan Reddy became the CM. “This regime has also crushed the Rs 350-crore Puttaparthi Sathya Sai Baba drinking water project, which used to serve 11 lakh people. The government did not pay the maintenance cost as a result of which the project suffered a major setback.
