Music Video of Romantic Track, Featuring Salman Khan And Pragya Jaiswal dropped last Friday and has since been viewed by millions of people on YouTube. Celebrating the success of the song, Iulia opened up about rocking romantic tunes with ETimes, feeling ‘blessed’ to be a part of this collaboration and finding her identity by stepping out of Salman’s shadow.

How would you describe your experience working in ‘Main Chala’?
Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to talk about ‘Main Chala’. I am glad that people have brought this song straight into their hearts. It is a matter of great pleasure for us as we have made it with so much love. So, it has been a great experience.
‘Main Chala’ is such a beautiful composition. Tell us the story behind the song and what made you come on board. Were you a fan of Guru before this?
Yes, definitely! Who is not a fan of Guru Randhawa? He is a great artist. I love his music and we were talking about working together for the last few years but somehow, it was the right time for us to work together.
The story started with the musician Shabbir Ahmed who invited me to the studio. He played a song for me and asked me to record it. It was such a beautiful song that went straight to my heart. And I said, ‘Yeah! But let me see how it feels.’ And he loved it immediately. When Guru joined, he heard the song and liked it too.
Later he decided to use it for the film.Antim‘ And the end of this journey was for us to have a beautiful music video with Salman Khan and Pragya Jaiswal. It came out as a single and it was much better.
This is your first music release since ‘Seti Maar’.time, How different is working on a musical single versus an original soundtrack?
I think there is no difference between working on a movie soundtrack and a music single. The songs are all special and different. In movies, songs are added to the story as they provide a certain need, but again, it is a story told through music.
I think with the single, we as a singer take a bigger risk than OST who is backed by the cast of the film. But in the end, it’s worth it.
‘Main Chala’ has all the ingredients for people to receive it well. It has Guru, Salman, Pragya, the spirit and mood of the song was beautiful. I feel blessed to be a part of this project.
Fans are raving about how you sang with so much passion and emotion, is there someone in your life whom you thought about while singing?
I got beautiful responses from people I don’t even know. Somehow it resonated with them. Some of them may have been identified by a particular situation or just by the mood of the song. When they listen to this song they just relax and feel relaxed.

i love singing Its been with me for a long time. It’s a part of my life.
The track has over 25 million hits and is receiving love from all over the world, do you think you are an established singer now?
I do not know. That, the audience will decide. One thing about me is that I love music. As a profession or hobby, it doesn’t matter. As long as I can enjoy it, it’s fine. If this beautiful gift touches people’s lives in a beautiful way, I am grateful.
You were looking very beautiful in the music video. While we expected you to share the screen with Salman, it was you and he was in a different frame. Will we see you together anytime soon?
I do not know. We will see how this journey progresses. Of course, working with Salman is an honor, a blessing and a pleasure. First of all he is such a great person and a great actor and experienced in the field. When you are around him, you learn a lot.
I feel for myself, at the moment I wanted to work on my identity. I’m working on that, especially because people don’t know me so well here and I think it’s important to do so.
When it comes to finding your identity, how difficult or easy is it to break out of Salman Khan’s shadow?
You have to put in extra effort. Of course, it comes with advantages and disadvantages. There is visibility, and it helps a lot. And as I said, her input, her experience helps a lot, but in the end, you have to put in extra, extra effort to build your own identity for your work and for getting to know people as Yulia, not That as someone who is associated with another person.
I think everyone wants to be respected for their work.
