‘It’s a shame to miss T10 maiden century’: Deccan Gladiators Tom Koehler-Cadmore

Tom Koehler-Cadmore smashed a scintillating 96 off just 39 balls as Deccan Gladiators thrashed Bangla Tigers by 62 runs in Zayed in the Abu Dhabi T10. Cricket Stadium.

Although the Englishman scored the highest score in the history of T10, he regretted that he fell short of the first century by four runs.

“Obviously it’s a shame when you pass it and don’t get it. It would have been nice to get the first 100 but there’s always the next game. It’s nice to be able to contribute.”

The Gladiators outperform the Tigers in all departments of the game. After setting a target of 140/1 in 10 overs, spinner Hasaranga de Silva took five wickets to restrict Bangla Tigers to 78 in 8.3 overs.

“We bowled brilliantly tonight as well and for banning them how we did, credit to our bowlers and how well they have done for the entire tournament.”

Kohler-Cadmore said the one-day break on Tuesday helped the players freshen up.

“It’s been a very busy schedule. We’ve had five games in a row. So, it’s good to take a break. Getting two points is a big deal for us.”

He said that the batsmen are in good form to go into the final round of the tournament.

“It shows in our batting order. Everybody’s just going out there and everybody’s trying to make a positive choice and jerk off. T10 gives you that freedom.”

Prior to this innings, his top score in the tournament was an unbeaten 51. Kohler-Cadmore has been dismissed in single digits six times, but he said there was no pressure from management because of his low scores.

“When you’re not contributing to the team, it’s one of the most frustrating games in the world. But if you manage to get in and contribute, like, I contributed twice out of 10 matches with the bat.” If I wanted to, I would have probably got three out of 10. But two out of 10, if all our batsmen did that, the team would have been in a better position.”

Kohler-Cadmore had the rub of the green early in the match, with Hazratullah Zazai dropping their catch.

“Today was my day. I had that little luck going my way. When I hit the air, it just goes over the fielder, stuff like that.”

The Gladiators are at the top of the points table with 14 points from 10 matches, followed by team Abu Dhabi at 14 from nine matches. In the second match of the day, Delhi Bulls beat Chennai Braves by 10 wickets to take 12 points and are 10 points ahead of Tigers in third place.
