“I think the boys took pride in what we achieved in this tournament. We did a great job against England and went into the final where unfortunately we ended up at the wrong end. The boys are in pain but hopefully next time we can go all the way.”

Lauding the players’ performance in the UAE, Boult said that reading and adapting to the wicket has always been New Zealand’s strength.

“Reading the wicket and adapting quickly has been the strength of this side. This time, it was a little different from the pitches we were used to but the boys still did well.

When asked about facing India in his own home, Bolt said, “The World Cup final was a huge stage and after that maybe India is coming and facing them in their own backyard. The boys are definitely looking forward to it.”
