IT employee held for issuing death threat to NCP chief Sharad Pawar

New Delhi: An IT professional from Pune was arrested on Monday for issuing death threats to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar.

The Mumbai Police official said that the accused named Sagar Barve was an employee in the data feeding and analytics section of a private company.

The officer said that the Mumbai Crime Branch has brought the accused to Mumbai where he was produced in the court. The court has remanded the accused to police custody till Tuesday, he said.

According to the police, the accused posted a death threat against the NCP chief on Facebook. For which he had created two fake accounts on the social media platform.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde immediately increased security keeping in mind the threats.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said there may be ideological differences but threats to a prominent opposition leader will not be tolerated.
