Mumbai Indians’ ESA initiative will see 19,000 girls cheering for MI at the Wankhede against KKR (Mumbai Indians Twitter).

As part of Mumbai Indians’ Education and Sports for All (ESA) initiative, 19000 young girls and 200 special children from 36 NGOs will cheer for Mumbai Indians against Kolkata Knight Riders at Wankhede.

On 16th April Mumbai Indians will celebrate a unique initiative at Wankhede. The teams will be supported by over 19000 young girls and 200 special children from 36 NGOs. The event is part of an initiative by Reliance Foundation and Mumbai Indians Education And Play For All (ESA), where every season the team hosts one game in the MI schedule, for which it invites children from NGOs across the city to attend the live game and cheer for their favorite cricketers. MI vs KKR match dedicated to inspiring the girl child as part of ESA initiative- #ESADay.

Speaking about the initiative, Mrs. Nita M. Ambani said, “This special match is a celebration of women in sports. This year marked a historic beginning for India’s women cricketers with the first ever Women’s Premier League. To highlight the right of girls to education and sports, we are dedicating this year’s ESA event to the girl child! Reliance Foundation is proud to bring over 19,000 young girls from various NGOs to enjoy an IPL match at the stadium this Sunday.

The initiative seeks to create educational and play experiences that provide inspiration and educational opportunities for children from all backgrounds. Guided by its overarching ‘We Care’ philosophy, Reliance Foundation, through ESA, provides grants to NGOs to undertake various activities in education and sports through the year.

Reliance Foundation has made elaborate arrangements for the convenience of the children taking care of every aspect. A total of 500 BEST and private buses along with over 2000 volunteers will be deployed to transport these 19,000 children. There will be a provision of 100,000 food boxes and adequate availability of water.

Children will also get special edition ESA T-shirts, an opportunity to participate in activities at the Wankhede Concourse and create their own banners which they can display during the games.
