A total of 590 players have been shortlisted for the upcoming mega-auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The list of players for the auction to be held on 12 and 13 February 2022 was released on IPL.com.
In the 15th season of IPL, 10 teams will compete for the trophy. The teams from Lucknow Supergiants and Ahmedabad will be added to the already existing eight teams.

“Out of the 590 players registered for the auction, 228 are capped players, 355 are uncapped players and 7 are from associate nations,” BCCI secretary Jay Shah said in a statement.
“A total of 370 Indian players and 220 overseas players will be ready to make what promises to be action packed” IPL 2022 Players Auction in Bengaluru,” read the statement further.

Punjab Kings will enter the auction with the highest amount of money in their kitty – 72 crores. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, balances with 47.5 crores, the lowest amount held by any franchise for the mega-auction.
There are 47 players from Australia in the list, while 34 are from West Indies. These two countries have the highest number of players nominated in the IPL auction 2022.

Earlier, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed that domestic business group Tata will replace Chinese mobile maker Vivo as the main sponsor for the upcoming edition of the tournament.
