Mumbai: All eyes will be on spin duo Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal as 2016 IPL champions Sunrisers Hyderabad take on the winners of the inaugural season at the Maharashtra Cricket Association, Pune, on March 29. Packed with several match winners in their ranks, Rajasthan Royals will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in a match against former champions as both the sides aim to start a winning start in the IPL in Pune on Tuesday. The Royals’ batting fortunes will largely depend on the form of their talented skipper Sanju Samson, who has been on the field for quite some time now but hasn’t lived up to the expectations.

Speaking during the gameplan episode aired on Star Sports, the official broadcaster of Tata IPL, Dhawal Kulkarni said, “Ashwin and Chahal are world class bowlers who have proven themselves. They have a lot of experience behind them and have done it for their respective sides. It will be a tough challenge for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Every year, Samson plays one or two match-defining knocks, but this time the Royals will have to go the extra mile if they want to win another title.
Speaking during the Gameplan episode on Star Sports, Aakash Chopra said, “I am not expecting a lot of spin as this is just the first game. However, there may be no dew as it is one place as compared to the other three venues. It’s an open field. When you talk about Ashwin and Chahal, you talk about a lot of quality. I hope they take some wickets and be economical too.”
A good performance in the IPL could help Samson find a place in the Indian team with the T20 World Cup due later this year. Jaipur team can open with Jos Buttler and Devdutt Padikkal. A fiery butler can sabotage any bowling attack and if he and Stylish Padikkal can make a flying debut, the Royals will be well served along with Samson and others.
