Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Gujarat Titans were given a warm welcome by the people of Ahmedabad on Monday. Local fans gathered in large numbers on the city streets, celebrating the victory with Hardik Pandya & Co’s open-top bus parade.
According to a report done by India Today the open-top bus parade started from Osmanpura riverfront and ended on Monday evening at Vishwakunj riverfront in Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans players and support staff members were also felicitated by the state Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel.
Glimpses of the parade were shared on social media. The GT franchise posted a few pictures from the mega celebration on Twitter.
“We couldn’t have won this #SeasonOfFirsts without you, #TitansFAM. We cannot thank the city police enough for ensuring our roadshow is a resounding success!,” the franchise captioned the images.

Pandya on Sunday night became the fourth Indian captain to win IPL title after the likes of MS Dhoni, Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma. Titans played just one match at their home ground, Narendra Modi Cricket stadium, and the big final did not disappoint its fans.
Chasing a modest target of 131 runs, Pandya & Co defeated Rajasthan Royals with 7 wickets and 11 balls to spare. Gill scored an unbeaten 45 off 43 balls while Pandya made 34 off 30 balls.
Eventually, Gujarat Titans became the second team after Chennai Super Kings (in 2011) to win an IPL final at their home ground. Speaking on the post-match show, skipper Pandya expressed his feeling about scripting a grand victory in front of local fans. He said that it is hoped that this win will mark the beginning of a rich legacy for the franchise in the IPL.
“It’s going to be a special one. We talked about building a legacy. The generations to come, everyone will remember that it was this team that started this journey and winning the championship in the first year is very special,” Hardik had said .
