IPL 2022: ‘According to the wicket, the total was not that big’, admits Rishabh Pant after defeat against Gujarat Titans

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant on Saturday blamed his team for not batting well after their 14-run defeat against Gujarat Titans in an IPL 2022 match at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium here.

Delhi Capitals were chasing a target of 172, which was very close to the score they scored against five-time champions Mumbai Indians in their opening match of IPL 2022. On that occasion, they were able to successfully overhaul the target of 178, on Saturday they failed to score 172 runs and lost by 14 runs.

This is the second consecutive win for Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat in the current season.

Pant said it was a chaseable score as per the condition of the stadium in Pune.

He said, ‘I think the total was not that big in terms of wickets. We could have batted well, especially in the middle overs,” the Delhi skipper said during the post-match celebrations.

The wicket-keeper batsman also said that after losing so many wickets, it would be difficult for his team to make a comeback in every match.
