iPhone 14 launch: Likely specs and more of the iPhone that may replace iPhone mini – Times of India

Apple is expected to announce new iPhones this week at the “Far Out” event scheduled on September 7. The iPhone 14 lineup might include four models – iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Rumours are rife that the iPhone 14 Max would replace the smaller iPhone 13 mini. But What to expect from the alleged iPhone 14 Max? Here is everything we know about the iPhone 14 Max.
iPhone 14 Max: Features, specifications and price (rumoured)
The iPhone 14 Max is said to be a bigger-sized sibling to the vanilla iPhone 14, much like iPhone 14 Pro Max will be to the iPhone 14 Pro. So, one can expect it to feature a bigger display, which is rumoured to measure 6.7-inches. The iPhone 14 is expected to come with a 6.1-inch display. Like the iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Max would also have a notch, no pill-shaped cutout for non-Pro iPhones, rumouredly. Moreover, the iPhone 14 Max is rumoured to have an OLED panel but again, no 120Hz ProMotion as it would be reserved for the iPhone 14 Pro models.
The iPhone 14 Max would not be much different than the iPhone 14 in other aspects as well. Like the iPhone 13 and 13 mini, the two new upcoming models would share the same cameras, which could be a pair of 12MP wide and ultrawide sensors with some minor improvements. Moreover, the two are rumoured to come with the A15 Bionic chip, the same processor found on last year’s iPhone 13 lineup.
One can expect the iPhone 14 Max to have a bigger battery compared to the iPhone 14, since the ‘Max’ would have more space to fit in a bigger battery. Well, rumours suggest that the iPhone 14 Max could come with a 4325mAh battery.
The iPhone 13 mini was a great option for those wanting a smaller high-end phone. The iPhone 12 mini and 13 mini offered similar specifications and feature sets as their regular-sized counterparts. However, the iPhone 12 mini or 13 mini could not find many takers despite people’s willingness to buy a smaller-sized iPhone mini on the internet.
As per a report from Consumer Research Intelligence Partners (CIRP), the iPhone 13 mini constituted only 3 per cent of total sales of the iPhone 13 series in the US during Q1 2022. Meanwhile, other iPhone models performed comparatively much better; the standard iPhone 13 had a 38 per cent share. The same happened a year ago, as only 6 per cent of customers in the US bought iPhone 12 mini in the first two months since the launch. So, the demise of the mini-sized iPhone has not come out of the blue.
