Industrial production data to be released on Tuesday – Times of India

NEW DELHI: The government will release the eagerly-watched factory output data for the month of May on Tuesday evening. index of Industrial Production ,IIP) had grown by 7.1 per cent in April this year after remaining weak in the last seven months.
Industrial production grew by 13 per cent in August last year. Thereafter, IIP growth remained below 4.4 per cent (in September) and touched an all-time low of 1 per cent in November as well as in December last year.
In May last year, IIP growth was recorded at 27.6 per cent, mainly due to low base effect.
This macroeconomic data point is important for policy makers as it reflects the current status of manufacturing, mining and other important sectors.
to issue IIP data For April last month, the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation had said that the growth rate of the corresponding period last year has to be interpreted from March 2020 onwards in view of the unusual circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Quick Estimates of IIPs are released on 12th of every month (or previous working day if 12th is a holiday) with an interval of six weeks. They are compiled from the data received from the source agencies, who in turn receive inputs from the producing factories/establishments.
