Narayana Murthy shared that people should treat community property better than private property to avoid issues of dishonesty in public administration.

Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy, who feels “uncomfortable” coming to the national capital, said Delhi is a city where indiscipline is highest. of money.

“I really feel very uncomfortable coming to Delhi, it is a city where indiscipline is highest. Let me give you an example. I came from the airport yesterday. At the red light, there were so many cars, motorbikes and scooters, you know, violating the red light without any care,” Murthy said.

“If we can’t stop for a minute or two, we just have to move on. Do you think they will wait if they have the money? Certainly they will not wait,” the Infosys founder added while speaking at the All India Management Association (AIMA) Foundation Day.

Emphasizing on building true value in the corporate world, Murthy said, “We should start teaching our children to display these things in small areas, in areas where there are diminishing returns, to inculcate the habit of following the right path. … then you gradually improve towards resisting the temptation, where the big returns are.”

He shared that people should consider community property as a value better than private property in order to avoid issues of dishonesty in public administration.

The Infosys founder said that he learned his first lesson in corporate governance from his teacher.

“You should consider community property better than your personal property. All issues of dishonesty in public administration systems arise because they do not follow this principle.” Murthy said.

When asked what kind of personality he should be known for, Murthy said that he would prefer to be known as a fair person rather than a good person in Indian parlance.

“I don’t want to be known as a nice guy in Indian parlance. In India, if you are a good person, it means that even if someone is stealing something, you keep quiet and smile. If it is not appropriate, I will stand up and make respectful remarks. However, I want to be known as a fair person. The nice thing about fairness in a transaction is that if one party loses if the other party loses, that party will leave the table saying that if I had better data, if I had done the right thing , this man would have supported me,” he said.

Murthy said that he does not hate any person but his act. “I want to make my mark because here is a man who tried his best to be fair,” he said.

Talking about the future of technology with tools like ChatGPT, Murthy said that science is about revealing nature while technology is about making man’s life more comfortable, improving productivity, reducing costs, solving problems, etc. It’s about harnessing the power of science to do more.

“Artificial intelligence has made our life more comfortable by becoming assistive technology. I think there is a misconception that artificial intelligence will replace humans. There is power. As we know, no computer can match the mind of a child. Even if such experiments are done many times,” Murthy said.

He said that the human mind is always one step ahead and becomes the monster of that technology.
